Star Chapter 447

Minutes of the Chapter Meeting

April 6, 2010

Star Chapter #447 met on April 6, 2010, 6:30 p.m. at Cool Water Cafe in Ridgeland, MS. Ray Coulter, President, called the meeting to order and lead in prayer. Visitors at this meeting were Ana and Alona, grandchildren of Larry and Josie Grubbs.

Jean Grobe, Secretary, read the minutes of the March 2010 meeting. Sizie Dickson moved they be approved and Josie seconded.

Steve Leslie, Treasurer, reported the club had $1177.11 in the bank and $25.00 petty cash for a total of $1,202.11. He presented LMMA bumper stickers for sale.

Vernon Moore, Ride Chairmen, reported that he and Henry Heldon would ride to the Strawberry Festival in Friday. Members riding to the Festival on Saterday are Ray and Joy Coulter, Lana Gray, Rodney and Carolyn Huckabee, Kedar Abaied, Clyde and Julie Graham. John Gray asked that other members who are not going to the Strawberry Festival were encouraged to show up at the Wal-Mart in Madison to help with the Special Olympics tee shirt sale. He stated there would also be a raffle to raise funds for Special Olympics with prizes that included a nice stainless steel grill and a pressure washer.

Ray announced that the Laurel Chapter is sponsering a ride on April 24 to benifit  child with cancer.

He also encouraged the membership to sign up for the Texas Star BQ, We are waiting on the dates for Star-Balaya.

John Gray announced that he had Special Olympics tee shirts for sale. John read the list of who he knew was going on the Special Olympics ride. They are: Mark Alexander from the Laurel Chapter, Lana Gray, Bill and Suzy Dikson, Steve and Romona Leslie, Ray, Joy and Cliff Coulter, and Carolyn, Rodney and Carly Huckabee, and Clyde and Julie Graham.

Rodney Huckabee announced that he had booked a room in D'Iberville for the Special Olympics ride and that he had blocked 8 rooms for other members who mght need them. Cost is $60 a night.

Rodney also spoke for LOS Carolyn Huckabee who was absent about a coke fundraiser. This will be presented and discussed by the executive board along with other fundraiser ideas at the next executive board meeting.

Kedar Abaied asked that in addition to the Chapter ride on the second saturday of each month that we also have a shorter chapter ride on the 3rd Sunday afternoon for those who the long rides are physically hard.  Larry Grubbs made the motion that this be adopted and Vernon Moore seconded.

John Gray then asked that prospective member Cliff Coulter along with his parents Ray and Joy leave the room so that the members could discuss and vote on the admittance of Cliff to the Chapter. He was unanimously voted in. john motioned that he be accepted and Romona seconded.

July 19th, we leave for Star Days in Chatanooga. Some discussion was given to the distand and time we should leave.

Joy Coulter sold 50/50 tickets and collected $95. Vernon Moore won and donated his winnings back to the chapter.

Larry Grubbs made the motion to adjourn and Romona seconded.
