Star Chapter 447 Minutes
February 2, 2010
The February meeting of Star Chapter 447 was held on February 2, 2010 at Cool Water Catering Restaurant.
Ray Coulter, President, called the meeting to order.
Walt Drane lead in our opening prayer.
Jean Grobe read the minutes of our previous meeting. They were approved and seconded.
Steve Leslie presented the Treasurer's report. We have $60.00 in petty cash and $1,080.01 in the bank for a total of $1,401.01.
Ray announced the appointment of committee chairmen for 2010. They are: Romona Leslie - Entertainment Chairman, Julie Graham - Fund Raiser Chairman, Vernon Moore - Ride Chairman, and Ray asked for a volunteer for the Sunshine Committee Chairman.
Ray announced that the Star Bar B Que will be held in Tyler Texas, May 7-8th. Cost is $55 per person to register and that includes the tee shirt, pin and patch.
John Gray, Vice President, introduced Jamie Brooks of the Madison Police Department who spoke to us about helping them put on a Yahtzee run. Proceeds will go to the Mississippi Special Olympics. They are working out the logistics of the run, the route, cost, prizes, etc., and ask our help and support. The Star Logo will appear on the shirt because of our donation to the Mississippi Special Olympics. We will also be allowed to sell 50/50 tickets at the events.
Officer Brooks also gave us information about escorting the torch to Keesler Air Force Base for the Hames in May, He was able to give specifics about the normal route the torch takes and the pace of the ride. It was mentioned that Allen Hayes needs information about the schedule of the torch.
Julie Graham presided over the 50/50 drawing. We collected $73 and the winner of the $35 was Walt Drane.
Announcement was made about the Ladies Bunko night. It is to be held at Joy Coulter's at 6:30 in Tuesday, February 9th. Men are to meet at Mugshots.
Josie Grubbs moved to adjourn the meeting and Clyde seconded.
