Minutes of Chapter Meeting
 
March 2, 2010
 
Star Chapter #447 met on March 2, 2010, 6:30p.m., at the Cool Water Catering Restaurant in Ridgeland, Ms. Ray Coulter, President, called the meeting to order and lead in prayer.
 
Minutes of the last month’s meeting was read by Jean Grobe, Secretary. Joy Coulter moved the minutes stand as read and Larry Grubbs seconded.
 
Steve Leslie, Treasurer, reported that the chapter has $1,137.11 in the bank and $25 in petty cash for a total of $1162.11. Two expenditures were reported; the purchase of the Star Flag for $31.90 and $30 for LMMA Bumper Stickers. The Star flag will have fallen member, George Burgess’ name on it and will be flown in his memory.
 
Committee reports:
 
Romona Leslie, Entertainment Chairman is researching hotels in Chattanooga for the Star Days, July 20-23rd. The best deal so far is the Days Inn at $49 single and $69 double. It was mentioned that we need to get the ride schedule from Star so we can plan rides to coordinate.
 
Vernon Moore, Ride Chairman, announced that the Chapter Ride will be month on the second Saturday.
 
Ray had several announcements. He announced a $120 donation by Farm Bureau in memory of George Burgess.
 
He also stated that Wardell Herring, a former member had returned his rocker and resigned from our chapter.
 
He spoke to the chapter about the President’s meeting that he and the executive board attended in Monroe on February 20th. He announced the Star Picnic will be held in and hosted by the Shreveport chapter. The mission statement for Star was read and the importance of the mission statement was discussed.
 
Raymond Walters announced that Got Gear will feed the participants in the Porker Run on April 24th.
 
John Gray announced that the Madison Police Department will be selling tee shirts for Special Olympics on March 20th and April 10th at Wal-Mart and March 18th and May 5th at Kroger. It was also mentioned that the Strawberry Festival is on April 10th.
 
Benji, President of the Laurel Chapter of Star, and some of their members will accompany us as we escort the Special Olympics Torch. We will get a detailed schedule and route.
 
Larry Grubbs sold 50/50 tickets in the amount of $85. Kedar Abaied won.
 
Bike night was announced at Got Gear.
 
LOS Rep, Carolyn Huckabee, announced Girls Night at Applebee’s and then to a movie on March 9th.
 
Larry Grubbs moved we adjourn and Julie Graham seconded.
